City of Courtenay,BC, 2010
$1.9 Million – 14,500 sq.ft.
The renovation of this historic assembly space in downtown Courtenay includes a new entryway and canopies, new commercial kitchen and washrooms, new flooring, lighting, and adjustments to the mezzanine. The solid log walls were sandblasted raw and refinished, and where south-east exposure had caused entire logs to rot they were replaced, re-chinked and caulked. The renovation maintains the character and systems of the building and inserts sensitive modern improvements which enhance the building’s continued use as a public gathering space and historic icon.
